Food for Thought Campaign
Alleviating Hunger in Southeastern Michigan

Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeast Michigan is once again teaming up with area libraries for the annual Food for Thought campaign. During the month of April we will be accepting non-perishable food donations on behalf of Gleaners as they work together to help those in need in many communities throughout southeast Michigan.

Last year, libraries collected over 8,000 pounds of food!

Introducing Newsbank’s America’s News

MacDonald Public Library and the Suburban Library Cooperative are pleased to announce that library patrons now have access to Newsbank’s America’s News.  This database provides full-text searching and retrieval of articles from over 3,000 U.S. newspapers, magazines and broadcast transcripts, as well as selected web-only news sources.  America’s News contains 101 newspaper titles from Michigan, including Associated Press State Wire, The Detroit News and Fox-2 WJBK Detroit.

Users of America’s News may print, save or e-mail search results, and set-up custom e-mail alerts to notify them when new material appears in the database that matches a saved search.  America’s News will be useful for keeping up with current events, completing school assignments, compiling research reports, or researching family history.  The database may be used in the library with no sign-in required, or it may be accessed remotely by signing in with a valid library card number.
