As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, MacDonald Public Library's hours have changed. We apperciate your pateince and understanding. Our current hours are as follows:

Monday through Friday 
– 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday – CLOSED

Curbside Service  is also available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. To utilize this service, please call ahead to make a request or schedule a pick-up at (586) 725-0273, extension 2.

Please note that we are not accepting donations at this time.


Special Library Board Meeting

CLOSED DOOR SESSION – To discuss written legal opinion regarding Library Operations/Funding under attorney-client privilege, MCL 15.268(h). 

AGENDA  Listen to the City Administration's policy and legal reasons for increasing the administrative charges being allocated to the Library.
This meeting is being held by videoconference in accordance with Governor Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services' recommendation designed to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and in conformance with Executive Directive No. 2020-154.

Regarding Our Reopening

As of August 3rd, the lobby and Children's area of the library are open. Library hours remain 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Adult side is closed for renovations until further notice. As such, public internet computers are not available at this time.

Changes in the Children's area include: removal of puppets, puppet theater and all toys, limited access to one juvenile computer and one iPad, two chairs per table, and compliance with the 25% occupancy limit as required by law. 

When, entering our building, we require patrons to wear a mask, practice social distancing, use hand sanitizer, and keep visits as brief as possible.

Curbside pick-up is also available. Please call (586) 725-0273, ext. 2. to schedule a pick-up. Our bookdrop is available 24/7, with all returns being quarantined for 96 hours (4 days).

Teen Summer Reading 2020: Imagine Your Story

June 8th through August 21st, 2020

MPL's Teen Summer Reading Program begins on June 8th, 2020. Our theme for 2020 is Imagine Your Story!

Read fifteen (15) hours before August 21, 2020 to be entered to win one of four Visa gift cards, ranging in total amount from $25 to $100. Teens may read up to twenty (20) hours for an extra entry to win. Entries will be automatically generated here in Beanstack. A drawing will take place on August 22nd to determine our 2020 prize winners!

Please note that students entering 6th grade for the 2020-21 academic school year are welcome to participate in Teen Summer Reading. Registration and logging can be done 100% digitally via Beanstack!


Children's Summer Reading is Here!

Our library's annual Summer Reading program for kids is here! All kids have to do to receive a prize and a free book is read 50 days this summer. We recommend counting all days wihere you read at least 15 minutes. Prizes will be available for curbside pickup starting August 10th.
